Anita Darlene Wagner passed away peacefully August 2, 2022, at the Medical Lodge in Kinsley Kansas.
Anita went by her middle name and was known to all as Darlene. Darlene was born June 24, 1938, the youngest of Henry and Christine Wagner, in rural Pawnee County Kansas.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and seven of her siblings, Anna Marie Wagner, Elsa Wagner, Bertha Wetsel/Miller, Helen Lippoldt, Robert Wagner, Dorothy Koehn/Schmidt, Katie Smith/Henry. Darlene is survived by her sister Ella Woolard/Morrison of Kinsley Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.
Darlene went to school and graduated from Rozel High School. After graduation, she became a Medical Records Technician and worked at Edwards County Hospital for 38 years from 1965 -2003 until her retirement. Darlene was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She loved being around her sisters and friends and had an incredibly special adoration of animals, especially her cats and kittens. One of her favorite cats Peaches died before Darlene passed, which broke her heart. Darlene was known to take in every cat who needed a home.
She was considered by those who knew her to be quick witted, and always good for a laugh. As far as anyone knew, Darlene never harmed a soul, and would do anything for a friend or family member in need. She loved music and wanted to travel more, as many of us do before we run out of energy, money, or good health.
Darlene saved her nephew Richard Lippoldt’s life one day after a heavy rainstorm at the family farm. He fell into a ditch of rushing water and was near drown when she caught up to him and pulled him to safety. He still attributes his life to her and God and talks about him being here today only because of his favorite aunt Darlene’s quick reaction, and giant loving heart.
She will be dearly missed by all.
