Buford L Brodbeck

Buford L. Brodbeck, 89 of Kinsley, Kansas, passed away with family at his side on November 18th, 2014.  Beloved family man, Kinsley community leader and long-time Kinsley Fire Chief, he was born in Larned, Kansas on May 11th, 1925 to Benjamin and Ruth Kerns Brodbeck.  He graduated from Kinsley High School in 1942 and married Vera (Scott) Brodbeck in the same year while later serving in the US Air Force during WWII.   On his discharge from service, Buford and Vera joined the family business operating the Brodbeck Carnival and later owned and operated City Cleaners in Kinsley for over 50 years until their retirement in 2005.

He was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Ruth Brodbeck; brothers Ermil, Melborn and Marcellius Brodbeck; sister Bernice Dill; grandsons Mikel and Jeff Brodbeck and many nieces and nephews.   He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Vera Brodbeck along with his, son Lee Brodbeck, daughter-in-law Vicki Brodbeck, grandsons Todd and Brian Brodbeck , great grandsons Maxwell and Charles Brodbeck and granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Brodbeck.  A brother Ernest Brodbeck.

Services were at 2:00 pm Monday, November 24, at united Methodist church Kinsley with Pastor Mike Howard presiding.  Burial with military rites by VFW Post #7349 was held in Hillside Cemetery Kinsley.
