DAVID L. KAZMAIER
1949-2018
David Lynn Kazmaier, 68, left all pain and suffering behind on May 2, 2018, at his home in Lewis, Kansas.
He was born on May 9, 1949, at Spearville, Kansas to Cecil Wayne and Donna Lucille (Covert) Kazmaier and was a lifetime resident of Lewis. David's career was as a printer and newspaper owner having owned The Macksville Enterprise, The Edwards County Sentinel, and The Lewis Press. He also had a small farming operation for some years. Service to his community consisted of being on the Lewis City Council, Lewis City Clerk, member of Lewis Business and Professional Club, and Wayne Township Clerk, as well as coaching girls softball.
In addition to his family and friends, David loved model trains and built dozens of cars and engines for his large layout, some of which will soon be featured in an upcoming issue of a model railroaders magazine.
David is survived by brothers Michael (Judy), Marthasville, MO and Donald (Kathy), Larned, KS; nephews Deron Kazmaier, Bradley Kazmaier, Cary Kazmaier, Jay Kazmaier; and niece Melanie Speelman; eleven great nephews and nieces; aunts Darlene (Milton) English, Marcile King, Catherine Hammond, and Ruth Kazmaier; many friends, especially Cathy Woolard who provided many hours of unselfish care as his illness progressed. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Merridy Ann, and several uncles and aunts.
As cremation has taken place there will be no visitation. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, at the First Christian Church, Lewis, KS. Inurnment will follow at the Belpre Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, David's favorite charity, in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, 623 Marsh, Kinsley, KS. 67547
