Dennis J. Schaller, 64, of Kinsley, KS passed away Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, in Kinsley, KS.
Dennis was born December 13, 1954 to Henry “Dutch” Schaller and Helen Fox Schaller in Kinsley, KS. He grew up on a farm outside of Offerle, KS with his parents, 2 brothers, and sister.
A graduate from Kinsley High School in 1973, he always talked about the good old days, and of many onery times spent with good friends. He fondly shared many of these memories with his daughters that they will never forget. Thank you to everyone who helped create these memories - his laughter and recollection of those times filled our hearts with joy.
In July of 1981, he welcomed his first daughter, Angela, to this world with his former spouse Nora Rodriguez Schaller. They later married in September 1984. Their union brought two more beautiful daughters into this world - Michele born in October 1988, and Amanda born in December 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Helen, and a couple of his favorite dogs - Ruff and Buddy.
He is survived by his daughters, Angela Copeland, husband James, Salina, KS; Michele Schaller, boyfriend Ryan Beckett, Manhattan, KS; Amanda Hawkins, husband Ben, St George, KS; his brothers Daniel Schaller, wife Becky, Kinsley, KS; David Schaller, wife Lorie, Kechi, KS; and sister Sondra Johnson, Trinidad, Colorado; his grandchildren, Alyssa King, Jacob Copeland, Charli Hawkins, and Daniel Hawkins; nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and dear friends.
His biggest joy in life was his family. Dennis loved his daughters, their spouses, and his grandkids more than anything. He visited them any opportunity he had. He also enjoyed growing his garden, watching many Western flicks, fast cars, and spending time with friends. Dennis recently retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation and looked forward to sleeping in on those cold and nasty days of Kansas winter weather. He was making plans to move closer to his family, and maybe even get that Harley he’d always dreamed of.
Catholic Rosary will be Friday, September 27th, at 7:00 pm at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. A celebration of Dennis’s life will be Saturday, September 28th, at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial graveside will follow at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Edwards County Fire Department and Edwards EMS in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
