Donald Allen Stuart

Donald Allen Stuart, age 73, passed away on January 2, 2022. Don was born to Paul and Pauline Lucille (hendricks) Stuart in Iowa City, Iowa on January 10, 1948. His younger brother, Jerry, passed away in 1991.

After graduating from Highland Community High School in Riverside, Iowa in 1966 he attended Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville, Missouri. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1970. In 1970 Don accepted a job to teach Social Studies at Kinsley High School. In 1973 he obtained his Master of Arts. In 2014, after teaching for 44 years at Kinsley High School, he retired.

Stu, as everyone called him, always said he was “underpaid and overworked” but none-the-less he accepted coaching positions. Football, basketball, track and golf were his sports. He was also class sponsor and coached quiz bowl. In 1995 the team was State runners-up and in 1996 they took 1st place.

Stu enjoyed reading, watching movies, listening to music, golfing and eating chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes.

Stu was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry. He is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by countless students and friends.

Services will be held at McKillip Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 22, at 10 a.m.

Memorial donations for a bench at Kinsley High School and/or Edwards County Golf Course may be given in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS.
