Eleanor J. Hogan, age 84, passed away in Kinsley, Kansas on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was born June 24, 1936, the daughter of James H. and Mary F. (“Mamie”) Gleason Hogan of the St. Mary’s community in rural Hodgeman County, Kansas.
After her freshman year at Spearville High School, she went on to graduate from Mt. Carmel Academy, Wichita, Kansas in 1954. In 1957, she graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing as an RN.
Her nursing career included Pediatric staff nursing at St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita, Kansas; Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with Dr. Owen, Knapp and Clark in Wichita; and staff nurse from 1965-1970 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, Miami, FL. She continued her career with Edwards County Hospital, Kinsley, KS nursing staff, retiring in 1998 after 28 years.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, James Welsh. She is survived by her siblings: Mary Alice Hogan; Luella Frances Hogan Welsh; James G. Hogan and his wife, Joan; Jane Hubbell and her husband, Carl; and Richard Hogan and his wife, Cindy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special relatives.
There will be no visitation. A Rosary will be held at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Kinsley, KS at 1:30 pm. on Friday, March 5, 2021, followed by the funeral Mass at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, rural Hodgeman County.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Heritage Foundation or Edwards County Hospital Auxiliary in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS.
