Gary Lee Proberts

Gary Lee Proberts, died June 19, 2017.  Born September 18, 1954, in Kinsley, Kansas, he was the son of Samuel Proberts and Marcielle (Proberts) Parker (Robert Parker).

Gary was proud to have raised four sons and a daughter.  Son, Darin married to Teresa with children Brandon, Sarah and Megan; Son, Jeremiah with daughter Katelyn; Son, Nickolaus; and youngest son, Kevin married to Trina with children Toby and Joleigh; Daughter, Michelle married to Robert Swinney with children, Caleb, Andrew and Luke;

Gary was married in 1972 to the mother of his children, Mary (Countryman) Proberts and they were divorced in 1994. In 2011, he met Brenda Marquez. Brenda and her three daughters became an extension of his family.

Having worked with many people throughout western Kansas and the Midwest, he believed in working hard with integrity and honesty.  If you’re going to do something do it right he’d say.  His careers involved owning the local restaurant, Ed. Co. Sheriff’s Department, Wal-mart management, the census bureau, but mostly he was a truck driver and truck company manager.  In his retirement years, he re-kindled his love for wood-working, grew vegetable gardens, and enjoyed taking care of his dog and his cat.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother Gerald Proberts (Linda), three nephews and a niece.
