JACK E. ROBERTS May 5, 1933 – August 21, 2023

Jack E. Roberts, age 90, fell asleep in death August 21, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas after a long and full life. He was a resident of Lewis, Kansas.

On May 5, 1933, Jack was born to Andrew and Naomi Roberts on his family’s farm in Edwards County, Kansas. His siblings were Louise, Reuben, Leon (“Blackie”), John, and Kay. Having survived the Great Depression and the challenges that came with it, Jack learned to be resourceful and inventive, and was compassionate to anyone in difficulty and was self-sacrificing.

As he grew up, his grandmother would read the Bible to him, and he develop a love for it. He graduated from High School in Lewis, Kansas, and after he graduated took up an in-depth study of the Bible and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In May of 1949, he married Carolyn McClaren. They were married for 71 years, although Jack used to say he was married for 142, 71 for him and 71 for her. Together they worked in their ministry for the rest of their lives.

They lived in Wichita until they received an assignment as traveling ministers to serve congregations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. They also serve the District of North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Ohio, and Minnesota. Jack and Carolyn learned Spanish and were instrumental in starting many Spanish congregations throughout those areas. He also assisted in disaster relief work in 1989 because of the damage done by Hurricane Hugo in Jamaica.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his sister Kay Kenner, and many nieces and nephews.
