Jack Wolfe

Jack Wolfe, 101, died July 31, 2017, at the Kansas Soldiers Home at Ft. Dodge.  He was born February 1, 1916, in Newton, KS, to Clyde D. and Alice M. (Matthews) Wolfe.  Jack was the oldest of 7 children.  When Jack was 3 months old they moved to Flagler, CO. where he graduated from high school in 1934 and farmed with his father.  Soon after he moved to the Pine Tree Ranch in Elizabeth, CO. with his parents and farmed.  In 1942 he enlisted into the Marines serving in World War II.  In two years he became Tech Sargent of Heavy Equipment.  After serving Jack went back to the Pine Tree Ranch to farm again.  In 1948 he moved to Lewis, KS, to take over the Harry Wolfe farm.  Where he met Dosca Shuss and married her on December 28, 1950.  Survivors include; one son Jimmie Jack Wolfe and one daughter Ann Elizabeth Derley, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and two sisters Opal Mauldin and Ruby Ramey.  He was preceded in death by his wife Dosca, two brothers Robert Wolfe and Bill Wolfe, two sisters Charity Clemet and Bethy Matheson.  Jack loved farming and farmed all his life.  On September 15, 2014, Jack moved into the Kansas Soldiers Home at Ft. Dodge until his death.  Memorial service will be held on August 4, 2017, at 10:30am in Wayne Cemetery, Lewis, KS, with the Rev. Mark Hornbaker presiding.  Memorial may be given to Kansas Soldiers Home in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
