Jane Francis (Schmitt) Craft, 72, peacefully left this world on February 2, 2016, at Edwards County Hospital, Kinsley, KS after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Jane was born to Alfons and Hildegard Werner Schmitt on March 1, 1943 in Great Bend, KS., as the youngest of seven children she was often referred to as "Baby Jane".

Jane met the love of her life, John Craft while attending Kinsley High School. The high school sweethearts were married August 11, 1962 and enjoyed a wonderful life together.

For many years Jane worked at the Kinsley Bank serving so many with a smile and later she worked at Dr. Obee's Dental office and for Richardson Abstract.  Her love of flowers and the outdoors was evident to those that saw her beautiful gardens.each year. Whenever possible Jane loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with her husband.  She loved to spend time with family and friends, was active with the Women's golf league for many years helping with countless tournaments and supporting the youth involvement.  Jane was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church serving as Eucharistic minister and coordinated many church luncheons.  She volunteered with the Red Cross and at the Twice is Nice.  She was also known to hit more than a few winning slot machines.

She is survived by her husband John.  Three daughters, Jana Dietz and husband Scott; granddaughter April Dietz and great-granddaughter Riley all of Wichita; and a grandson Taylor Dietz, Mission. Jamie Michaels and husband John; granddaughter's Kylie and Kendall of Olathe. Judi Haggar and husband Bill; grandson Alec and granddaughter Laila of Wichita. Three brothers, Charles Schmitt of Kinsley, LaVern Schmitt of Hutchinson and Paul Schmitt of Abilene; and a sister, Phyllis Indiek of Spearville.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Harold and Alfred “Fritz”.

Vigil services will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Kinsley at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 4, 2016.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am on Friday, February 5, 2016, with Fr. Warren Stecklein presiding.  A luncheon is to follow.  Family will hold private burial at St. Nicholas Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the St. Nicholas Community Center Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.
