Jay Dean Dill passed away on November 17, 2022 at the Edwards County Medical Center after a battle with cancer. He was born June 10, 1955 in Kinsley, the son of Harold “Dean” and Bernice (Brodbeck) Dill.
Jay was a 1973 graduate of Kinsley High School. He continued his education at Emporia State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Government. Afterwards he returned to Kinsley and worked for Edwards County over the next 27 years. During this time he married Linda Schroth on September 4, 1987. Jay then served as the City Manager of Kinsley starting in 2005 until his retirement in 2021.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, cheering for the Kinsley Coyotes, the KU Jayhawks, the Cleveland Browns and this year especially for the National League Baseball Champions, the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. If the weather was decent, you could find him spending his free time out on the golf course.
Jay was someone who never met a stranger. He knew how to tell a story. He was knowledgeable about a variety of subjects and had a wonderful one of a kind hearty laugh.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Linda. He is survived by his daughters, Toni Dill of Larned, and Lexie (Josh) Wetzel of rural Offerle, along with his grandchildren, Bryce, Simon, Skyler, Alvin and Grace.
Services will take place November 28th at 1030AM at the McKillip Memorial Chapel in Kinsley. A gathering will be held at City Hall after the services. Memorials should be made to the Hospice of the Prairie in care of the McKillip Memorial Funeral Home.
