Jerome Edmund Herrmann, 91, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on Tuesday February 28, 2023 at the Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge, KS. Jerome was born March 1, 1932 the 5th of 6 children to Carl and Martha (Weber) Herrmann. Jerome attended Saint Peter and Paul grade school NNW of Kinsley and graduated Kinsley High School in 1950.
On April 14, 1959 Jerome married his forever best friend and love Vivienne Sweatman in Larned, KS. They worked hand in hand together and enjoyed a happily wedded life for 49 years. They were blessed with 5 children to complete their lives. Jerome lost his devoted wife and soulmate on December 15, 2008.
Jerome is a veteran of the Korean War where he served overseas in Korea for close to 2 years. Jerome was a lifetime farmer and rancher with a passion for livestock, Jerome lived 85 of his 91 years on the Carl Herrmann original homestead. Jerome was well known and respected in the livestock business for many years. Jerome enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, 3 ball billiards, pitch and dominos.
A strong man of his Catholic faith, dad practiced and lived his Catholic faith every day until the very end.
A shining life filled with family, faith and many accomplishments; a life well lived.
Dad is survived by his 5 children; Stan (Janell), Cathy Pfeifer (Terry), Mark, Maureen, Jon (Michelle). 8 grandchildren; Zayne (Aundrea), Subhi, Alex, Paige, Caitlin Sharp (Ryan), Kellen, Bryce, Mackenzie; and 2 great-grandchildren; Aaliyah and Mohammed.
Jerome is also survived by 1 sister; Janice Gleason (Ronnie) and 1 sister in-law Billie. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; and 4 siblings, Jim, Gerald, Gilbert and Mary.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Kinsley with Fr. Ben Green presiding. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas cemetery. Vigil will be held Wednesday March 8th, 2023 at 7 p.m. with family present from 6 - 7 p.m.
