Kenneth Eugene Dupree

A Salute to Our USA Flag, Our Country, and to Kenneth Eugene Dupree, who passed away January 8, 2022. Kenneth was born March 5, 1926, to John and Clara Mae (Taylor) Dupree in Kinsley, KS. He had two brothers, Arthur and Dean Dupree, of whom preceded him in death and one sister, Margaret Ferguson of Noble, Oklahoma.

Kenneth served well in so many fields of service in his lifetime. He was in the US Army Infantry 2nd Division during WWII from 1944-1946. He fought in Germany, England, France, Belgium and many other countries overseas. He was in Germany on the front line on his 18th birthday, fighting for his life.

Kenneth met the love of his life, Mildred Winters, and they were married October 4, 1945. They were blessed with two children, Linda and Keith both of Kinsley, KS., 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth and Mildred celebrated 71 years of marriage on October 4th before Mildred's death on January 9, 2017.

Kenneth worked for Kinsley Sand & Gravel for 9 years followed by 22 years for Edwards County as Road & Bridge Supervisor. Kenneth retired in 1990. Many people will remember him by his love of beautiful flowers and his green thumb.

Kenneth served as Edwards County Commissioner for 3 terms, which would be a grand total of 12 years. He was one of the oldest men in Kansas to serve as commissioner. He was Kinsley City Commissioner for 2 terms. Kenneth had a lifetime membership at the Jones-Barnes-Gasser VFW Post #7349. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 18th Degree in Dodge City at Yorkright and 32nd Degree Mason in Wichita at Mt. Moriah.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 and Services will be at McKillip Memorial Chapel in Kinsley, KS. on Wednesday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley.

Memorials may be made to VFW Memorial Fund to help with the up keep and with adding more names to the Memorial, in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS.
