L. Marlene (Barber) Thompson

L. Marlene Thompson, 81, of Hutchinson, died peacefully at her home on July 26th, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 24th, 1935 in Wilmore, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Oscar and Roberta (Manahan)Barber.  On August 16th,1953, Marlene married the love of her life John W. Thompson. John passed away June 19th, 2007. Together John and Marlene had five children which were the love of their lives.  Marlene loved her family with all her heart. She believed that family was the most important thing in life next to God. She loved spending time with her kids. She was so excited when her family started to grow. John was the first to marry. He married Mary Bettes on October 20th, 1973, and together they had four grandchildren that they blessed John and Marlene with. Anna, Jeremy(1975-1993), Heather, and Amanda. Next was Carlene, she married Dwight Wilkening on July 30, 1977 together they blessed Marlene and John with Corey Wilkening(Leah). Shirley then married Ralph Fuentes on June 26th, 1993. Out of their love came Stormie Fuentes. Doris fell in love and married Jessie Wolfe on May 15th, 1982. They blessed the family with Andy Wolfe(Michele) and Joshua Wolfe(Kate). Susan married Tim Jordan on September 28th, 1985. John and Marlene were blessed with two more grandkids, T. Scott Jordan (Molly) and Krystal Jordan.  Marlene could never have enough time with her grandkids, she loved to hear them laugh and watch them play. She would say the sweetest words were when the kids and grandkids would tell her that they loved her. Throughout the years Marlene’s family grew to fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and four more on the way that she could not wait to meet. We cannot even begin to count the numerous loved ones that she adopted and claimed to be hers throughout the years to be part of her family. Another important part of Marlene was her love for God. She would talk to anyone and everyone about her love for her God. Even on her deathbed it was so important for her to make sure that every one of her family members would be meeting her in Heaven.  Marlene is at peace now and is with the love of her life and sitting at the Throne of God. You will be missed so much mom, but we know you are in a better place and are so happy. Thank you for teaching us how to love God, our family, and life.
