Loretta G. (Kurth) Polson

Loretta G. Polson, 102, of Kinsley, Kansas entered her heavenly home on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at home on the family farm. She was born September 1, 1918 on a Sunday morning just in time for church at home on her parents Edward and Amelia Henning Kurth’s farm in rural Offerle, Kansas. Loretta was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle, Kansas. She attended school in the Offerle and Kinsley Schools until the family moved to a ranch in Lookout, Oklahoma. She later moved to Alva, Oklahoma where she lived and worked until she married Art Polson in 1947 and moved back to Kinsley. Together they celebrated 43 years of marriage until Art passed away 1990. Loretta loved going to church at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kinsley where she was a member. She was a member of the Mary Martha Guild and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was quick to tell anyone that asked the secret to living so long was going to church and onions. She was a most loving mother to seven, grandmother to twenty, and great grandmother to thirty-eight with two more on the way. She loved to cook, sew, garden, read, do word find puzzles, and watch Jeopardy. Loretta is survived by sons, Ron (Jayme) Polson, Kinsley, Don (Debbie) Polson, Louisburg, KS., John (Dana) Polson, Garden City, KS., daughters, Kristie (Allen) Kohlmeier, Kinsley, Nikie (Gary) Panzer, Lewis, KS., and Marlene (Chris) Cunningham, Mullinville, KS.sisters Geneva Peck, Wichita, KS., and Ivalene Pippen, Colorado Springs, CO., nineteen grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Art, daughter Norlene, grandson Timothy Polson, brothers Howard Kurth, Gilbert Kurth, sisters Roberta Busse, Margaret Cole, Beatrice Wheatly, and Eulalia Roberts. A graveside service is at 3:30 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 17, at the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in care of McKillip’s, Kinsley.
