Loretta Letha Wetzel died peacefully Friday, March 06, 2015, at Dodge City, KS. She was 83 years old.
Born July 25, 1931, she was the second child born to Edward H. and Lillie M. (Ley) Wetzel. She was baptized September 13, 1931, at Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle, KS. On March 25, 1945, she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion where she was a lifelong member.
Loretta stayed on the farm where she was born helping and caring for her parents until their deaths. She enjoyed gardening and sold countless dozens of eggs. She moved to Dodge City, KS in 1987. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting and needle art and proudly displayed and sold her handiwork at craft fairs.
She is survived by her sister, Hazel Wetzel of Dodge City, KS, and sister-in-law, Ruth Wetzel, of Offerle, KS; two nephews, Ray Wetzel, Jr. and wife, Bethine of Garfield, KS, and Wayne Wetzel and wife, Dolores of Spearville, KS.; two nieces, Glenda Klein of Portland, ME, and Nancy Ahsmuhs and husband, Ron of La Quinta, CA.
She joyfully reunites with her parents, brother Raymond Wetzel, Sr and nephew Dale Wetzel who preceded her in death.
We will celebrate her life at 2:00p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 13307 Jewell Road, Offerle, KS, with Rev. Stanley Palmer presiding. Burial will follow at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be given to the Zion Lutheran Church in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, 623 Marsh Ave., Kinsley, KS, 67547.
