Lyle Dean Jensen

Lyle Dean Jensen, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on June 9th, 2024 at the age of 74. Born on September 27, 1949, in Larned, KS, to Woodrow and Marie Jensen, Lyle's journey began with humble roots in Kinsley, KS, where he spent his formative years. He graduated from Kinsley High School and then answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the Marines. Achieving the rank of Lance Corporal, Lyle showcased both pride and distinction, courageously battling through the trials of the Vietnam War, and emerged as a now respected veteran.

Following his service, Lyle returned to civilian life, dedicating himself to the land as a farmer and rancher. His days were often spent traversing the countryside with his faithful canine companions, a testament to his love for animals and the open road. Yet, beyond his agricultural pursuits, Lyle was known for his warmth and generosity, forging countless friendships along the way.

Lyle is survived by his sister Jolene (Gary) Phillips of Plano, his daughters Kelle Jensen (Jeremy Timken) of Hutchinson and Jessica Jensen of Kansas City, and a friend who became as dear to him as a son, Josh Schmitt of Kinsley. His legacy lives on through his three cherished grandchildren, Hannah Heinz, Dionne (Olivia) Timken, Bryce Timken, and his great-grandson, Zion Timken. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Marie Jensen.

In honoring Lyle's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 29th, at 11 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, followed by a celebration of his life at the VFW hall in Kinsley, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Honor Flight in care of McKillips Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS.

Lyle Jensen's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, his memory a source of comfort and inspiration for years to come.
