Bowers, Norma Florine (Brown), 93, Kinsley, Kansas died October 4, 2022. Norma was born September 29, 1929 in Centerview, Kansas to the late Mable and Leroy Brown. She was united in marriage to Ernest (Ernie) Wayne Bowers May 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1996. She was also preceded in death by sisters Glenna Slater (Ed) and Marcea (Carl Dean) Wingfield. Later in life she was also a companion to Don Fisher.

A celebration of life will take place at the Kinsley Methodist Church Saturday, October 22nd at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon and graveside service at Wayne Cemetery in Lewis, Kansas. Pastor Melissa Naylor will be officiating. McKillip Memorial Funeral Home is taking care of arrangements.

Norma attended grade school and high school in Centerview and was one of only two students in her high school class. In the beginning of her working career, Norma worked for Richardson Abstracts and Taylor and Sons. She enjoyed working with numbers and liked to point out that she was born on 9 29 29 and husband Ernie was born 1 22 22. Norma worked for Investors Savings and Loan in Kinsley for 26 years and was the Branch Manager of their Dodge City location. She also served as a County Commissioner for Edwards County for several years, was a life time member of Eastern Star, a former member of the Edwards County Historical Society and a former member and officer for the VFW auxiliary.

Norma enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, playing cards with her grandchildren, telling them scary stories during overnighters at the farm and playing bridge. For many years she also enjoyed bowling with her friends.

Norma loved her family and spending time with them. She was particularly proud of her daughter and son-in law and grandchildren Charissa and Nick and has many pictures of them displayed in her home as they have grown. She was very happy with the spouses they chose in Darren and Robin and was quite pleased in getting to know great grandchildren Quinton, Kinsley and Mila.

Norma is survived by daughter Pamela (Clyde) Lobb of Shell Knob, Missouri, granddaughter Charissa (Darren) Kumar of Fort Worth, Texas, grandson Nicholas (Robin) Lobb, Topeka, Kansas, great grandson Quinton and great granddaughters Kinsley and Mila

Norma’s family wants to express their heartfelt appreciation to Ron Tallman for the wonderful and loving care he provided for Norma these last few years. The family also wants to thank Edwards County Medical Center and Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri for their sensitive and professional support in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edwards County Historical Society, 1027 U.S. Highway 56, Kinsley, Kansas 67547.
