Randy Dean Looney

Randy Dean Looney died unexpectedly after a brief illness at his home on June 30, 2020 in Kinsley, KS at the age of 62.

Randy was born on October 7, 1957 in Hoisington, KS to Leonard Looney and Annabelle (Killingsworth) Looney. He was raised in Ford and Dodge City, KS where he spent much of his free time riding his beloved horse, Diamond. He graduated from Mullinville High School in 1977 and in 1980 married Victoria (Huskins) Looney in Eastern Montana. After having lived in Montana, Kansas, and Connecticut, they settled with their two daughters, Briana and Megan, in Modesto, CA in 1985. He returned to Kinsley, KS in 1996 where he enjoyed working with his horses, watching his niece barrel race at local rodeos, and spending summers and holidays with his daughters. He worked at Cargill Meat Solutions in Dodge City for more than 20 years.

No matter where he lived, Randy enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and he found pride in being a “Girl Scout Dad” during his young daughters’ camping trips. Family was incredibly important to him and he enjoyed travel; he frequently drove around the state to see his siblings and extended family, and often travelled to California and New York, visiting his girls and enjoying family vacations. He is remembered by his loved ones and friends as a kind and generous man with a giving heart who loved his family and found joy in supporting and celebrating their accomplishments.

Randy is survived by his two daughters, Briana (and husband Jason) Tallman (Modesto, CA) and Megan Looney (New York, NY); his siblings, Lee Looney (Jetmore, KS); Roseanna Poeverlein (Thayer, KS); Brenda Rowley (Wichita, KS); and Vicki Rowe (Ponca City, OK); seven nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and his former spouse, Victoria Looney (Modesto, CA). He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim Looney; and three nephews.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date where all will be welcome to honor and remember Randy.
