Regan Nathan Wolfe

Regan Nathan Wolfe, age 60, passed away January 29, 2024 at his home in rural Lewis, Kansas.  Regan was born February 8, 1963, at Porter Memorial Hospital in Englewood, Colorado to Robert A. and Sylvia J. (Cecil) Wolfe.  Regan was a long time resident of Lewis, Kansas.

Regan began his school years at Kiowa Elementary School, Kiowa, Colorado.   The family then moved to Lewis, Kansas and he completed his education at Lewis Schools.

Regan and his five brothers all tagged along after their dad and learned skills that served them well throughout life. In the mid 70’s the family farmed acreage along the Red Deer River in Alberta and Regan spent many hours as a young boy running a Case 1470  tractor. After graduating high school and working for others, Regan joined with the family harvest crew, traveling from Texas to Alberta, Canada and his mechanical ability served him well in helping keep the trucks, tractors and combines of the family business in top running condition.

Regan enjoyed reading. He read Louis L'Amour and Stephen King, getting to the final pages of Dark Tower IV Wizard and Glass, before he was unable to hold the book.  Cooking, canning and gardening were among Regan’s other interests.   The first morning back home, after spending a month in the hospital this past summer, he got up fixed coffee and cooked up a big pan of biscuits and gravy.  He then went out to check on the peppers and tomatoes that he had planted just before he ended up in the hospital. Woodcarving was another hobby Regan enjoyed and some of us have an item that he made.

In January 2023 during a regular medical checkup a suspicious knot was later determined to be cancerous. Treatment was started, but too little, too late.  Regan was not a quitter.  He continued to do many things that he enjoyed doing for as long as he was able. We took rides around the countryside, out to the field. He enjoyed life.  The only complaint he ever uttered was: “I just want some food.”   Those milk shakes through the feeding tube just can’t compare with ice cream, cherry cheese cake or biscuits and gravy, just a few of the dishes that he was accustomed to enjoying.

Regan will be missed by friends and family, including many nieces and nephews and his siblings:

Cynthya Billinger of Lewis; Rob Wolfe (Brenda) of Lewis; Karon Garrett (Dude) of Fargo, ND; Mary Joan Johnson (Gene) of Iddesleigh, Alberta, Canada; Randy Wolfe (Carrie) of Marienthal, KS; Reed Wolfe of Lewis;  Lynne Hutchison (Wendell) of Midland, TX;  Ross Wolfe (Lisa) of Kinsley, KS and Misty LaChance (Steve) of Pratt, KS.

Regan is preceded in death by his parents Robert A. and Sylvia J. (Cecil) Wolfe, brother, Ryan Wolfe and niece, Roberta (Bobbie) Noelle Coupland.

A graveside service will be held for Regan at Wayne Township Cemetery, Lewis, Kansas at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7th.  There will be a gathering at The Rock Building in Lewis following burial.
