Robert “Bob” Russell Weidenheimer, 88, died November 14, in Kinsley, Kansas. A graduate of Kinsley High School, he attended Wentworth Military Academy and Wichita State University.

He was a member of Rotary, the Masonic Lodge, Kinsley’s volunteer fire department and the Kinsley Episcopal Church. He operated the IGA grocery store and meat market from the early fifties until his retirement in 1996. Well known for his iconic trumpet rendition of Sugar Blues, Bob could always be heard whistling as he worked. Known, also for his quick wit and fabulous sense of humor, he had many friends and acquaintances. He was a devoted husband and father.

Bob married Nancy Etling in October 1951.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Louise Weidenheimer, a daughter, Beth Molitor in 1981, and two uncles, Dick and Maurice Weidenheimer.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughter Amy (D) Council Grove, KS, grandson Russell (Amy), Alta Vista, granddaughter Julie Noeth (Byron) Ramona, KS, three great grandchildren, Clara Noeth, Rhett Noeth, and Lexi Todd. Bob was lovingly called Bobby by his grandchildren.

A service honoring his life will be November 30 in the Kinsley Episcopal church at 1:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
