Rodney Jay Craft

Rodney Jay Craft, 70, sadly passed away on August 25, 2024 at the Edwards County Medical Center, Kinsley. He was born on April 6, 1954 in Kinsley and was the son of Leonard and JoEllen (Lancaster) Craft. On November 6, 1976 Rodney married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Scheve and the two of them spent 47 great years together in Kinsley, KS. Rodney and Nancy had two children, Jeff and Lana.

Rodney was a proud member of his community where he was a volunteer for the Kinsley Fire Department for 21 years, worked as an EMT at Edwards County Medical Center, and served 18 years on the City of Kinsley Commissioner board where he also served as the Mayor. He worked his whole life in agronomy and agriculture as a crop specialist for several local co-op's. He spent most of his time after retirement at the Kinsley High School where he enjoyed perfecting the school lawns.

In Rodney's free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family going to Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on the Chief's and watching his grandkids' school activities. He also enjoyed hunting pheasant and fishing, working on his father's 1970 Chevy C10, and of course dancing from time to time.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and JoEllen Craft. He is survived by his wife Nancy, Son Jeff (Shasta) of Pratt, a daughter Lana (Chris) of Kinsley. Grandkids; Bryce, Madison, Chantal, Jaylen, Kyler, Addison and Jaxson and one special great granddaughter Mayzie. His brothers and sisters; JoLynn (Bill) Laufenberg, Keith (Cindy) Craft, Randy Craft, Darla (George) Sauer, and Larry (Kitrina) Craft. Several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Services will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Kinsley on August 31, 2024 beginning with the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 10:30 a.m., burial will be Hillside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Kansas Cancer Institute or to the Kinsley Fire Department in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
