Ronald E. Jensen, 70, was called to the Lord on December 16 at his home in Kinsley. “Ronnie,” as he was called by his family, was born to Elmer and Mildred (Franz) Jensen on December 19, 1943 in Kinsley. A veteran of the United States Navy, Ron served his country from 1965-1969, including a tour of duty as medic in the Vietnam War. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. An avid sports fan, Ron enjoyed playing and watching football, basketball and especially baseball. He coached and officiated baseball in Kinsley and the surrounding area. Ron retired in 2008 after 36 years of work at the Kinsley Coop/ADM where he began his career as an elevator attendant and worked his way to manager. He loved to volunteer and help those who were less fortunate. He deeply enjoyed fellowship and lifting others up— he never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, step-son Jason, sisters Donna Kinkaid of Valley Center, Linda Walter (William) of Marion and Denise Fromm (Dale) of Newton, along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20 at First Christian Church in Kinsley. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church and VFW Post 7349 of Kinsley.
