Rosanna Gleason, 98, died September 15, 2022. She was born August 30, 1924 in Russell, Kansas to Joseph and Frances (Kepka) Dauber. She attended Fort Hays University where she met James Gleason. She taught school in rural Russell County while James served in the U. S. Army Air Corp. On May 23, 1946 they married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Russell, Kansas. They lived and farmed in the St Mary’s community for most of their lives. They celebrated 72 years of marriage before James’s death on December 28, 2018. Rosanna was an active farmer’s wife and many in the area enjoyed her fresh eggs and cream. She was a member of the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella, was a letter writer extraordinaire, loved to quilt and play cards. Rosanna loved her family and friends and enjoyed their activities.
Rosanna is survived by her children: Greg (Jean Anne) Gleason, Halstead; Janice (Lou) Scott, Dodge City; Carol (Roy) Soukup, Ellsworth; and Martin (Jennifer) Gleason, Offerle; grandchildren: Angela Gleason, Sheena (Adam) Alt, Andrea (Andy) Tully, Brendan (Jarin) Gleason, Mary Beth (Jake) Hencke, Nathan Gleason, Janelle Scott, Shane Scott, Renee (Adam) Hein, Troy (Mary) Soukup, Christine (Daniel) Mushrush, Brett Gleason, and Caitlen Gleason; great grandchildren: Claire and Blake Novotny, Jack, Henry, Oliver and Adelaide Alt, Kennedy, Collin and Tanner Tully, Brienna, Liam, Declan and Kylan Gleason, Vera Hencke, Natalie, Michael, Rachael, and Andrew Hein, Sheridan and Weston Soukup, Sadie, Bella, Kate, and Eli Mushrush; sisters-in-law: Theresa Aistrup and Carolyn Gleason and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Rosanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, one grandson Alex Gleason, sisters Josephine Schulte and Edna Schulte, brothers Richard and Joseph Dauber Jr.
Vigil service will be 7 pm on September 18, 2022, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Kinsley. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am on September 19, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hodgeman County. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund and Action for Alex.
