Rosetta A. (Miller) Neilson, 87 passed away on January 11, 2022 at her home in Lewis, Ks surrounded by the love of her children. Her amazing life began as the daughter of Melvin and Florence (Barber) Miller on August 28, 1934 in Kinsley, Ks.
After high school she moved to Larned where she met the love of her life and married Ronald Raymond Neilson in 1956, who passed away in 1992. They had seven children.
She is survived by six of her seven children: Raymond (Laurie) Neilson of Punta Gorda, FL; Rhonda (Gary) Snyder of Lewis, KS; Roxann McReynolds, Richard (Stacy) Neilson, and Robin Neilson, all of Kinsley, KS; and Russell (Rita) Neilson of Netawaka, KS and one brother, Victor (Julie) Miller of Offerle, KS.
She was also survived by her pride and joys of her life, all 13 of her grandchildren: Toni, Jake, Ragina, Raylena, Michael, Mathew, Jennie, Jennifer, Marsha, Shandy, John, Brent and Megan; All 29 of her great grandchildren: Aaliyah, Katrina, Mya, Jayce, Braydon, Marissa, Roamie, Alex, AJ, Felix, Xavier, Jordan, Cole, Madisyn, Whitney, Sophia, Armando, Emma, Thomas, Alexis, Darius, Rylan, Sam, Hailey, Reece, Lauren, Kerby, Bryce and Simon; And 3 great-great grandchildren, Zayden, Hazel and Zoey; Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her 2 year old daughter Rosalie Ranay Neilson, her sisters Edna Mae Miller and Loretta Craft, and her brother Melvin “Sonny” Miller.
She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1954, being so proud that she was the first grandchild to graduate from high school. She formed many lasting friendship throughout her life.
She was a telephone operator in Larned for many years. She was a dispatcher/head supervisor for the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office for over 15 years and retired from there in 1999. She loved her job and all the people she worked with along the way.
She enjoyed all the new friends she made from being a snowbird in Florida for 18 years. She loved to play BINGO and cards. Her favorite pastime was crocheting, embroidery and reading.
Above all, she cherished and loved her family. Her love, wisdom and support will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to have known her during her life here on earth.
Services will be at McKillip Memorial Chapel in Kinsley, KS on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley. Everyone is invited to join the family for dinner following the services at the 4-H Building, Kinsley, for the Celebration of Life for Rosetta.
The family request in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to McKillip Funeral Home for the city park improvement in honor of Rosetta’s love for family and community, in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley, KS.
