Shirley Faye (Deckert) Brollier, 89, passed away on October 31, 2024, after a short illness.
She was born in Edwards County Kansas on August 2, 1935, the youngest daughter of Jesse William Deckert and Faye Lillian (Kerns) Deckert.
Shirley grew up on a farm near Lewis, Kansas and graduated from Lewis High School. A long-time resident of Kinsley, she was a member of the Congregational Church of Kinsley and the Edwards County Hospital Auxiliary. She also served as treasurer for the Congregational Church Foundation. As a member of the birthday breakfast club, she enjoyed gathering once a month with friends to celebrate. Shirley was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She especially loved working in her yard and tending to her flowers and gardens, following in her mother's footsteps. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events throughout the years. Shirley was a KU basketball fan and enjoyed watching the games on TV. She was able to attend a couple of games in Lawrence, and that was really special for her to experience. She also took many trips on the back of a motorcycle with Harold, traveling over 30,000 miles. One of Shirley's favorite pastimes was putting puzzles together, a hobby that her dad also loved.
Shirley is survived by her children; Karen (Scott) Martin of Overland Park, KS., Janalee (Mark) Keehbauch of Kinsley, KS., and Melissa (Byron) Pike of Minneola, KS. as well as twelve grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Lori Lynette Duncan, and siblings Leon Deckert, Glenna Mae Johnson and Lois Kennedy.
Visitation will be 1pm to 7pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, 623 Marsh Ave., Kinsley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Congregational Church of Kinsley, 702 Niles Ave., Kinsley. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest in Wayne Cemetery, Lewis.
