Terrence Dean Brake (Terry) was born March 26, 1972. He passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2023 in Kinsley, Kansas.
Terry was born to Emmett and Judy Brake in Denver, Colorado and was the second of 10 children. Most of his childhood was spent on the family farm in Kinsley, Kansas. He spent his adult life in western Kansas working as a truck driver, custom cutter and machinist. In 2005, he returned to Kinsley where he worked for the Schmitt family and enjoyed farming and raising cattle. He was also involved with the Brake family farm and was proud to take over the farm after his father retired.
No one was a stranger to Terry. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and playing billiards and pool. He was always a kid at heart and had a special gift for making people laugh. His family and friends are saddened that he was taken so soon, but very grateful for the time they had with him and the memories that will likely make them smile.
Terry is survived by his children, Eric Brake, Nicole (Clayton) Hoffman, and Richard Brake; three grandchildren, Rylee, Korie, and Lucas; parents, Emmett and Judy Brake; brothers Tony and John (Chrissy); sisters Jenny (Jason), Shelley (Ray), Sarah, Suzanne (Kurt), Cynthia (Vic), and Katie; three nephews, Jake, Ollie, and Jayden; one niece, Megan; and his beloved dog, Sam. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger, his grandparents Anthony and Rose Marie Brake, Sidney and Verla Dunn.
Rosary will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Offerle, Kansas on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 7pm. Funeral services will be at 10am on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery following the service.
