Vera Elizabeth (Chapin) Fox, 101, passed away June 24, 2024, at Country Living of Larned, KS. She was born January 9, 1923, in Kinsley, KS. the daughter of Guy Henry Chapin and Daisy Viola (Grunder) Chapin.
Vera married her high school sweetheart, Farold, January 20, 1944. They celebrated 74 years of marriage.
Vera graduated from Kinsley High School in 1941. She played the cello in the high school orchestra and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended the Success Business College in Denver, CO. She was a bookkeeper at the Army Air Base at Dodge City, KS., Ardmore, OK., Liberal, KS., and Garden City, KS. After Farold's discharge from the Army Air Corp. They made their home on the family farm in rural Lewis where she was homemaker and worked at the Home State Bank for many years. She was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Edwards County Hospital Auxiliary, Central Kansas Thread Benders Quilt Guild of Great Bend, KS., the Thursday morning coffee group, and the Lewis pitch club. She was an avid quilter making many beautiful quilts throughout her lifetime.
Vera is survived by her three daughters, Terri (Chuck) Wiley of Elizabeth, CO., Lenice (Lyle) Divis of Lewis, KS., and Cindy (David) Stiebe of Kinsley, KS.; 6 grandchildren, Chad Wiley of North Hollywood, CA., Robin Wiley of Aurora, CO., Scott Divis of Lewis, KS., Jill (Divis) Shephard of Lawrence, KS., Alexis Stiebe of Hutchinson, KS., Kristin (Stiebe) McClaren of Lewis, KS. She had 11 great-grandchildren, Orion Wiley, Kiara and Porter Thiel, Falyn and Zeke Spangler, Jacey, Jenna and Tucker Divis, Mila Morrison, Brynlee Shephard, and Rhett McClaren.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Alma Lee Chapin, brother Harold Chapin, and her loving husband, Farold on August 24, 2018.
Funeral service will be at 2:30pm on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kinsley, KS. with Rev. Stanley Palmer presiding. Burial will be at the Wayne Cemetery, Lewis, KS. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Lewis Fire Department in care of McKillip Memorial Funeral Home, Kinsley.
